Event Details

Pakistan finds itself in one of the worst economic crises of its history. The macro situation is bleak – with high unemployment and inflation, falling investment, excessive fiscal deficit, and an economy trapped with a deteriorating external balance position and a collapsing currency. The micro-situation – with rising demand for quality education, a young and energetic workforce, and a growing middle class – may offer some potential, but can it be realized?

OPEN New York has invited two of the most sought-after leading economists, Asim I Khwaja and Atif R Mian – who have spent decades working on and engaging in Pakistan – to have an open discussion on where our country stands, a diagnosis of how we got here, and most importantly, how we can move forward.
